A figure, half female and half male, is divided into four quadrants labelled FLEGMAT, SANGVIN, MELANC, and COLERIC. These represent the four humours or temperaments, each associated with the supposed qualities of bodily fluids \u2014 phlegmatic (phlegm), sanguine (blood), melancholic (black bile), and choleric (yellow bile). Each quadrant is accompanied by three zodiac signs.<\/p>
