This design is inspired by a stencilled outline of a human hand discovered on a cave wall on Muna Island in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The original image was created by applying ochre pigment around the hand, leaving its impression on the bare limestone of the cave wall. The shape of the hand was then seemingly modified to resemble a claw!<\/p>
Recent research has securely dated this extraordinary work to at least 67,800 years ago<\/strong>, making it the oldest cave painting<\/strong> discovered to date.
