Made entirely from recycled materials, this A5 notebook has 100 lined sheets of 70gsm recycled paper and a certified Kraft paper cover. A handy elastic pen loop and the closure band are also recycled.<\/p>

The design is inspired by a woodcut illustration of Apples of Love (Poma Amoris)<\/em><\/strong> from The Herball, or Generall Historie of Plantes<\/em> (John Gerard, London 1597) - which contains one of the earliest discussions of the tomato<\/strong> in England.<\/p> <\/p> Gerard was one of the very first in England to grow tomatoes. He writes: 'The apple of Love is called in Latin Pomum Aureum, Poma Amoris<\/em> ... in English apples of Love, and golden apples : in French Pommes d'amours<\/em> : howbeit there be other golden apples whereof the poets do fable growing in the gardens of the daughters of Hesperus, which a dragon was appointed to keepe, who, as they fable; was killed by Hercules.'<\/p> <\/p> Recent theories suggest the name 'Love Apple' may have been a French misreading of the Italian pomo dei Mori<\/em> (\"the Moors' apple\") as pomme d'amour<\/em>, (\"apple of love\").
